Waste plastics are also able to be used in the injection moulding process. The Toberite® mix has been designed to achieve maximum performance and structural benefit. The Atoms distribute evenly to stabilize and strengthen the mix without compromising durability and flexural properties. The result is a lighter, stronger, more durable and workable product.
Due to the interlocking shape and weight advantage, the Atoms can be easily transported to anywhere in Australia or globally. The Atoms are made from polypropylene which provides superior qualities and is the most versatile and cost-effective plastic in comparison to other thermo- forming and polyolefin materials. It has good impact strength, surface hardness, dimensional stability and excellent abrasion resistance. Polypropylene does not absorb water and is resistant to a wide variety of acids, alkalis and solvent solutions with a temperature range up to 200°F. It is used in a variety of applications to include packaging for consumer products, plastic parts for various industries including the automotive industry, special devices like living hinges, and textiles. It will last 100+ years, will not rust and can be modelled to suitable shapes to be fit for purpose.
